Jon and Debbie Nettles have been selected as the Adoption Rally beneficiaries for Monday, February 20th, menís basketball game at Lipscomb University Ė Lipscomb vs. East Tennessee State University. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. in Allen Arena.
The Nettles, who are in the process of adopting a brother or sister for Sam, their precious young son, are the first Brentwood Hills family to be selected as Adoption Rally recipients. They will be introduced during halftime and will benefit from every ticket sold for tomorrow nightís game.
The Adoption Rally program was created by our own Brent High, Lipscombís Associate Athletic Director for Spiritual Formation. This program is designed to help families raise money to defray some of the significant costs of adoption. At each menís basketball home game, an adopting family is chosen to receive 100% of all of the single-game ticket sales revenue for that game. Although this program is still in its first season, it has already attracted great media attention and is being used as an example for at least one similar program that is already starting at another school.
Recipients apply and are chosen by an Adoption Rally Advisory Board, a group that includes Lipscomb alumni and friends who have either adopted children or were adopted themselves. Families that are chosen as recipients benefit when they can get as many people as possible to attend their game. The larger the crowd, the more money they will receive to help with their adoption expenses.
Congratulations to Jon, Debbie and Sam! It will be exciting for lots of us to be there and cheering loudly Monday night when they are introduced at halftime.
