You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good … Genesis 50:20

The story of Joseph is filled with priceless and practical lessons for our lives today. Here’s just a glimpse, from one of the final episodes of this familiar story:

Joseph’s older brothers were scared to death, and with good reason. Years earlier, when Joseph was only a teenager, their hatred for their baby brother had prompted them to sell him into slavery. But now the tables had turned. He’s one of the most powerful men in the world, and they are at his mercy. Their father, the brother’s last hope for protection, had just died, and they strongly suspected that Joseph would now seek revenge for the horrific ways they had treated him years earlier.

But they were wrong!

With the power life and death in his hands, and with a clear recollection of all his brothers had done to him, here is what Joseph told them:

“… don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them. Genesis 50:21

Joseph’s faith in God was strong. And he had lived long enough to realize that God really was watching over his life – even during those long and dark years when it must have seemed like God had completely forsaken him.

Although Paul did not write these words until years later, Joseph’s life experiences were an illustration of this inspired truth:

… we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

What a valuable difference it will make in our lives when we, like Joseph, realize that God can and will take any situation, even horrific ones, and use them to our benefit.

Vacation Bible School begins today and will focus on Joseph’s amazing story. Our precious children will see his story come alive before their very eyes – and the impact will be priceless.

However, VBS is not just for children. Mark and Lamar are teaching an exciting class for the adults in the Auditorium during each VBS session – specifically focusing on the significance of Joseph’s story in our lives. This will be a great and life-changing week for ALL of us. Don’t miss it!
