Jonathan’s Journey
Sunday October 18, 2009
A Beautiful Sunday Morning….
The Dawn of a New Day.
Sarah Young….in Jesus Calling…says…
“Go Gently through this day, keeping your eyes on Me. I will open up the way before you, as you take steps of trust along your path. Sometimes the way before you appears to be blocked. If you focus on the obstacle or search for a way around it, you will probably go off course. Instead, focus on Me, the Shepherd who is leading you along your life-journey. Before you know it, the “obstacle” will be behind you and you will hardly know how you passed through it.
That is the secret of success in My kingdom. Although you remain aware of the visible world around you, your primary awareness is of Me. When the road before you looks rocky, you can trust Me to get you through that rough patch. My Presence enables you to face each day with confidence.”
We are sitting around the table….here in the condo…having breakfast…listening to Andy leading the singing at Brentwood Hills…as we prepare to hear Walt’s 8 am service. The internet has made a major change in our way of wife. (oops---it should be Tommy noticed:
You said the internet has changed our "way of wife". I think I know what you meant (hey, you are, after all on vacation) but if I do not ask, others readers will chastise me. Does this mean the things our wives do? Does it mean how we find our wives? Could it perhaps be broader and be our "way of life"?

Pick up a seashell for me!

Tommy...thanks...for helping with the proofing...I was writing and a hurry...tour guide Barbara has me on a schedule.

I feel like I am sitting in the radio booth at BHCC. Except, when I look out the window…today I see the Atlantic Ocean…instead of the BHCC auditorium. Both---scenes---show me the power of God!
Thanks to Peter Mac Grubb, Jeff Muse and Dan Gower for their help with our broadcast.
What I like about gathering around the computer….it reminds me of the “old days” ---(Before my time…I read about it in my radio history books!!)---when the family would gather around the radio to listen to a radio program….now we gather around the computer to hear a broadcast!
A return to Family Time…
How do we get out of the way and let Jesus take control of our life?
However, God does what God says he will do….because the Lord will provide.
Our own confidence and pride…keeps us from trusting and depending on God.
When God challenges us…the only way we can experience God…is when we OBEY.
To be FULL…we have to completely give our lives to GOD.
You can download and listen to Walt’s series on FULL…by clicking on LISTEN LIVE…and listening to his FULL Series and his Wholly Holy series.
Starting to get a few emails…
Got this one this morning from my mom….
Hello Jonathan and all. You have really had an experience in travel. Only you and Barbara could have got thru that mess. We hope things will be better going home and you all have a great time and do get plenty of rest, You may need it getting back to N'ville. I know Dad and me will never be able to travel like that. I am so thankful we made the trips we did.
She talked to Benjamin on the phone…and got the full story about the trip.
Tommy Clevenger has been watching…and trying to help with our airline arrangements…
I just read your Thursday Journey about your airport travails. Two things:

1. I am so sorry, I know that was frustrating
2. Welcome to my world!

Wanting to help and support you, I’ve been on the phone this morning. You know I am a Platinum-Titanium-Diamond-Emerald-World Beater member on Delta. So, I made a few calls (actually I had some help from Vic McKee who is a Ten Million Mile Passenger on Delta). I can get some folks bumped off and get the family on a Delta flight today. That is Barbara, Bethany, and Barbara’s folks can get on. The good news is Delta has agreed to fly you free in the baggage compartment (no $25 fee!) but you will need to put yourself in a duffle bag to make it easier on the baggage handlers. Coming back is a bit more tricky. Again, I was able to get all the others on a flight and even get them upgraded to First Class. I can get you to Atlanta. However I could not get you on the Atlanta-to-Nashville leg. So you go from Atlanta to Dallas, Dallas to Salt Lake City, Salt Lake City to Cincinnati, and Cincinnati to Nashville. You’ll need someone to pick you up separately from the others.

There is no need to thank me. I am always here for you!

On another front, you copied Jeff’s e-mail encouraging outpouring of concern so others will come remove a tree from Suzanne’s back yard. Would it not be simpler to just consider it an act of God’s will and leave it there as a feature? Landscape folks always like features! Why don’t you suggest that to her. And, please, feel free to tell her it was your idea so she can give you all the praise. Again, you are welcome.

Enjoy South Carolina! (this isn’t hurricane season is it?)
A hurricane…that would just add to our adventure!

You know, Beth and I got stranded in Denver once and "lost" one day of vacation, but I do not think I've ever lost TWO DAYS in NASHVILLE ! I hope you are on a plane now. I think I saw that the Mustangs won 13-10. You are handling this better than I would. Consider that perhaps you are not supposed to go to Charleston. Just a thought.

It is turning out to be a beautiful Sunday on the Isle of Palms. We listen to our BHCC service and then watched most of the Highland View service from Oak Ridge….and then we went down to the beach…and walked along the beach (cool and windy)---Bethany walked in the ocean…for a little while---brrr cold!
Getting ready to head to a Plantation or some other historical site…as tour guide Barbara has us on the move!
Have a wonderful Sunday…and enjoy your Journey.
We spent the afternoon at the Boone Hall can see pictures of the afternoon tour...and pictures from yesterday and the beginning of our clicking on Photo Galleries and then going to Journey...Fall Break 2009.

Glad I missed the Titans loss today...Here is Benjamin's article re-capping the it appeared on

Patriots Hand Titans Worst Loss In Franchise History; NE 59 TN 0
By Benjamin Seamon October

The New England Patriots scored 35 points in the second quarter on their way to rolling over the Titans 59-0 on a snowy day in Foxboro.

The 59 point loss was the worst margin of defeat in franchise history. The Houston Oilers lost 61-7 to Cincinnati in 1989. Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said the game was unlike anything he had ever experienced.

"Career wise, I have never been through anything like this before," Fisher said. "I can assure you one thing. It's not going to happen again. There is a lot of things that we have got to get working on."

The Titans allowed the Patriots to gain 619 yards of total offense, another franchise worst. The shutout was the largest in the NFL since December 4, 1976 when the Rams beat the Falcons 59-0.

Tennessee fell to 0-6 on the year with the loss, while the Patriots improved to 4-2. The Titans have not won a game since Dec. 21, 2008 when they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers at LP Field.

Tennessee turned the ball over five times, while the Patriots did not have any turnovers.

The Patriots offense exploded in the second quarter with 35 points. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady hooked up with receivers in the endzone five times in the second quarter alone. New England took a 45-0 lead at halftime.

The Patriots tallied 426 passing yards compared to the Titans -7 yards through the air. Titans quarterback Kerry Collins was 2-of-12 passing for -7 yards, with an interception one fumble lost. Collins finished with a quarterback rating of 4.9. Also, back-up quarterback Vince Young went 0-for-2 passing with an interception. Before being relieved in the third quarter, Brady went 29-for-34 through the air for 380 yards and six touchdown passes. He finished with a quarterback rating of 152.8.

Collins said the Titans made to many mistakes against a really good football team.

"It's about as bad as it gets," Collins said. "I haven't been a part of a game like this in the pros."

Both the Titans and Patriots finished the game with 193 yards on the ground. Titans running back Chris Johnson led all rushers with 128 yards on 17 attempts. Patriots running back Laurence Maroney led New England with 123 yards and one touchdown on 16 attempts.
