Sweetheart Banquet

I understand that we have about 75 couples that will be attending the “Sweetheart Banquet” that is being sponsored by our men’s ministry. It should be a fun night in our foyer. Kerry Stiles and Paul Craig are coordinating the entertainment …that will include some music and a popular old TV show!

Years ago….our “Sweetheart Banquet” was hosted by the senior ministry---or older couples for our younger couples. It was always a special event! Then in the fall…the younger couples would host the seniors or older couples for a “Harvest Banquet”. Those are some great memories! Each year we make new memories….as we once said…”It is not just a happening…we are making a memory”!!!

Since returning from Florida…it has been a busy week. Tuesday afternoon, I was in the office catching up…and then Barbara, Bethany and I met Benjamin and Elizabeth to celebrate Benjamin’s birthday. He had just a little time…before he had to head back to the library to study.

Wednesday---I had morning and afternoon meetings and a mid-day staff luncheon. We had some business items…and we celebrated birthdays from November, December, January and February!

After mid-week classes…the men were setting up the tables in the foyer for the Friday night event…and then it was off to nearly a 2 ½ hour elder meeting! Our goal is to cut those meetings down to 1 ½ hours. I will keep you posted.

Today (Thursday) I had the pleasure to go with Randy Perry…to meet Marshall Shewmake and Ty Osborn of Solomon Builders…to tour the new construction of the Covenant Presbyterian church off Hillsboro road. Walt Leaver met us there. Greg Golden was also invited to the tour along with Hilton Dean. The sanctuary…is unbelievable…and they are about to have a ‘handmade’ organ---that will take months to assemble…that will make this auditorium a top wedding chapel! I think a music program there would be amazing---everything in the building was build based on acoustics. I would to hear what it will sound like in that auditorium. Also, from the church location…high on the hill above Burton Hills…you have a beautiful view of Downtown Nashville.
Later this afternoon…I went to Martha Lynn’s to get a haircut. My last one was a couple of weeks before she had her daughter. She figured up today…that I gone about 14 weeks since my last haircut. It looks a lot better…it was getting long in the back and sides…and it is thin on the top!

Barbara had a “secret sisters” outing tonight…so I picked up Bethany at Track practice and we ran by Mrs. Winners to pick up some dinner…and we enjoyed the meal in my office. Bethany had a lot of studying…before basketball practice at 7 pm at church. The girls have their final regular season game this Saturday and then their tournament begins next week.

Today from Sarah Young…and Jesus Calling….
“Bring me your weakness, and receive My Peace. Accept yourself and your circumstances just as they are, remembering that I am sovereign over everything. Do not wear yourself out with analyzing and planning. Instead, let thankfulness and trust be your guides through this day; they will keep your close to Me. As you live in the radiance of My presence, My peace shines upon you. You will cease to notice how weak or strong you feel, because you will be focusing on Me. The best way to get through this day is step by step with Me. Continue this intimate journey, trusting that the path you are following is headed for heaven.” ( Numbers 6:24-26)

Enjoying Andy….as our Journey for today…draws to a close….
